Peaks of Otter & Johnson Farm

A week ago, my mother-in-law and I went for an approximately 5 mile hike on Harkening Hill Trail and through Johnson Farm at the base of Peaks of Otter.  The trail was not well traveled as evident by the large number of spider webs we walked through.  We didn't meet anyone else until we got to the Johnson Farm, which had a couple of National Park Service employees.  The farm is meant to be representative of life in the Blue Ridge in the 1920s-1930s, but the Johnson family started living there in the 1850s amongst a small community.  I love old buildings so happening upon this homestead was a nice surprise.
